Ambassadorial Scholar Andrew Smeltzer

Andrew Smeltzer wins 2009-10 Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship

District 7570 of Rotary International has awarded Andrew Phillip Larsen Smeltzer with an Ambassadorial Fellowship to undertake graduate study in either Denmark or the United Kingdom. The Ambassadorial Scholarship Program of Rotary International, the world's largest privately funded international scholarship program, covers tuition and living expenses for a year of graduate study in a foreign country with active Rotary Clubs. Scholars serve as goodwill ambassadors while studying abroad, in order to promote Rotary's goal of international understanding.

Son of Dr. Linda Larsen of Rockbridge Baths, Virginia, Smeltzer is a graduate of Rockbridge County High School and the College of Charleston, where he majored in Political Science and Religious Studies. Smeltzer plans to study conservative religious movements in modern society. He is the recipient of the William E. Skelton endowed scholarship from Rotary District 7570.
