Ambassadorial Scholar Ryan Peck
Report of July 2008After graduation from the Monterey Institute of International Studies (and a cross country road trip), I took a temporary position with the California Energy Commission in Sacramento. I am working as the "student assistant to Commissioner Douglas" on a few exciting projects including the siting of large scale solar-thermal plants in the desert regions of California (think conservation vs. renewable energy development, the CEC, the CA Dept. of Fish and Game, and the BLM) and the creation of sustainability criteria for low carbon fuel sources. I may get my hands into some other projects before the end, but that is yet to be determined.
After a handful of months in Sacramento, I'll be heading to Spain (possibly Madrid, Zaragoza or Leon) to begin a year-long masters program as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar. The program will be determined along with the city in a short time, but it will have to do with renewable energy.
Ryan's blogRyan has a blog to describe the adventures of his Ambassadorial scholarship.

As of August 2009 Ryan Peck has completed his Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship in Zaragoza, Spain (Rotary District 2202). He will be going back to Spain to work in an Environmental company on projects in the United States. He has a Adobe PDF file presentation on his stay in Spain. Note that this is a very large (141 megabyte) file.
